- You need a SafeBay account with your eBay store connected.
- The approval screen names the assistant and the site you go back to. Approve only one you just added.
- In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and press Add custom connector.
- Name it SafeBay and paste the address.
- Press Connect, sign in to SafeBay and approve.
- In a chat, ask “What needs me today?”
The connector is then in Claude on the web, the desktop app and the phone apps.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced, and turn on Developer mode.
- Create a connector: name it SafeBay, paste the address and choose OAuth.
- Sign in to SafeBay and approve.
- In a new chat, switch SafeBay on in the tools menu and ask about your store.
Developer mode needs a paid ChatGPT plan. On Business and Enterprise, an admin may have to allow custom connectors.
Add SafeBay from your terminal, then run /mcp in Claude Code to sign in.

Perplexity, Gemini, Le Chat and Microsoft Copilot Studio add remote MCP servers too. Each names it differently:

Your store stays yours
No password shared
You sign in to SafeBay. The assistant never sees your password, your eBay sign-in or a card.
Keys that expire
Its key lasts an hour and renews while you use it. Left unused for 60 days, it stops working.
Your store only
It sees your orders, listings and messages, nothing of another seller’s, under the same rules as SafeBay’s phone app.

Profile, Integrations, AI assistants: Disconnect ends its access at once.
What the assistant reads goes to the company that runs it, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, under their terms. The privacy policy lists every service that receives data.

Which AI assistants can I connect?
Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server with an OAuth sign-in. Claude (on the web, the desktop and phone apps, and Claude Code) and ChatGPT in developer mode connect with the steps on this page. Perplexity, Gemini, Le Chat and Microsoft Copilot Studio can add it the same way. If your assistant is refused at sign-in, write to support@safebay.store with its name and we’ll add it.
Which SafeBay plan do I need?
Any plan, Free included. You need a SafeBay account with your eBay store connected. Your assistant may need a plan of its own for custom connectors: ChatGPT’s developer mode, for one, needs a paid ChatGPT plan.
Can the assistant do something without asking me?
Reading, yes: that is what you connect it for. The three tools that change your store (a reply to a buyer, a stock change, a relist) are marked as changing things, so assistants that ask before such tools ask you, and SafeBay tells the assistant to show you the exact message or change and wait for your go-ahead.
Does it see my eBay password or card?
No. You sign in to SafeBay, not to eBay, and approve the assistant on SafeBay’s own screen. The assistant gets a key to your SafeBay data that lasts an hour and renews while you use it. It never sees a password, your eBay token or any payment details.
Where does my store’s data go?
What the assistant reads from SafeBay goes to the company that runs the assistant, such as Anthropic for Claude or OpenAI for ChatGPT, under their terms. SafeBay sends nothing to them by itself: only the answers to what the assistant asks for. The privacy policy lists it.
How do I disconnect an assistant?
In SafeBay, open Profile, then Integrations, then AI assistants, and press Disconnect. Its access ends at once. Removing SafeBay in the assistant’s own settings is a good idea too.
Does it work with more than one store?
One SafeBay account is one eBay store. To ask about another store, connect the assistant again and sign in with that store’s SafeBay account.
