What makes an eBay title get found
Lead with what buyers type
Brand, model or product line, then what the item is. eBay’s search matches words, and buyers scan the first few.
Use the 80 characters
Every true word is another search the listing can show up in. Emoji count double, so they cost room.
Only true words
eBay treats unrelated brands or words as keyword spam. A colour, size or model you do not have brings the wrong buyers and returns.
Say it once
Repeating a word does not rank the listing higher; it only takes room from another search term.
Title Case, no shouting
Capitalize each word, never a whole word. Model numbers stay as written. Skip “WOW”, “L@@K” and “free shipping”: eBay shows shipping on its own.
Specifics do the rest
Filters run on item specifics, not the title. Fill them too: brand, model, size, colour, condition.
Create a listing in seconds. Only photos needed.
Take a few photos of the item. SafeBay’s AI recognizes it, writes the title the way buyers search, fills the item specifics and description, and suggests a price from what it sold for. You check it and publish. The Free plan includes 4 AI listings a week.
Questions about eBay titles
How long can an eBay title be?
80 characters on ebay.com and ebay.ca. eBay counts them the way a browser does, in UTF-16 units, so an emoji or a decorative letter counts as two. The builder counts the same way and flags a title that runs over.
Where do the keywords come from?
From the titles of listings that sold on eBay in about the last 90 days, the fixed-price listings live now, and the suggestions eBay’s own search box offers for your item. A word’s score is the share of those titles that use it, for sold and live titles apart.
What does “Sells” next to a keyword mean?
The word is clearly more common in titles that sold than in titles still waiting for a buyer: at least three sold titles use it and its sold share is a quarter higher or more. It is worth including when it is true of your item.
Will the suggested titles describe my item correctly?
They use your own words as facts and add only general words from the market data. They never add a colour, size, edition or model number you did not type, but read every title before you use it: you know the item.
Can I improve a title I already have?
Paste your title or your listing’s link. The builder reads that listing’s title and category, shows which words that sell it is missing, and writes three new versions.
Is the eBay title builder free?
Yes, with no sign-up: 5 searches a day, 30 with a free account. A search someone already ran today is free and does not count. Your last entries are kept in a cookie in this browser so the page is ready next time.
