Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

The short version

No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and your data is never sold. Your order, message and return counts stay in your browser. Data goes to SafeBay only for the features that need it, and only what each feature needs, as listed below.

What This Extension Does

SafeBay Companion helps eBay sellers run their store:

Shows counts of orders to ship, messages, cancellations, returns and live listings
Sends browser notifications with sound for new orders, messages and returns
AI Listing Assistant: fills in a new eBay listing from a short description of the item (or a part number), and checks an existing listing for mistakes, on eBay's own listing form
Keeps your eBay Buyer Block list in sync with your SafeBay blacklist, and warns you when a reported buyer orders or writes
Opens eBay seller pages and eBay research in one click

How the Extension Reads eBay

Method

It reads eBay pages you are already signed in to, with the same access your browser has when you visit eBay yourself. It never asks for or stores your eBay password.

Scope

Seller pages only: orders, listings, messages, returns, blocked buyers, and the listing form while you create or revise a listing.

Frequency

Messages are checked on the schedule you choose in Settings (every minute by default); other counts every 20 minutes.

How the AI Listing Assistant Works

SafeBay sends the listing details above to Anthropic's Claude API to write listing text and suggestions. Anthropic processes them to return the answer and does not use API data to train its models.
To research the item, SafeBay searches eBay's own listing and category services for its brand, model or part number. Only the words of your description or title are used for these lookups.
The extension then reads the item specifics of up to ten public listings that search found: it loads their eBay pages in the background, the way your browser would, without opening tabs. It sends only those item specifics to SafeBay, with the fill request.
For the price suggestion, the extension looks the item up in eBay's own sold-price research (Seller Hub → Research), signed in as you, the way the Research page does. It sends SafeBay the titles, sold prices and shipping costs of up to 50 sold listings it found, and nothing else from that page. The same titles also go with the fill request, to research the item (for example its alternate part numbers).
The assistant only changes the listing form you have open, and only when you ask. Nothing is published until you submit the listing on eBay yourself, and every fix from a listing check can be undone.

No Selling, No Advertising

SafeBay does not sell, rent or share your data for advertising, and uses no analytics or tracking services in the extension. The services named above receive only what the feature needs, and only to provide it. Data from the extension is used only to provide its features, in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

User Control & Data Deletion

Turn features off — The Listing Assistant can be switched off in its settings; notifications in the extension's Settings tab
Disconnect — Remove the SafeBay connection at any time from the extension's Settings tab
Clear data — "Reset extension data" in Settings, or uninstalling, removes everything stored in your browser
Delete your account — Deleting your SafeBay account removes the data stored with it
No account required — Counts and notifications work without a SafeBay account
